About the Teaching

As Khenpo Choga often remarks, “everything has a lineage.” The blessings of all living Buddhist traditions emerge from wisdom lineages of profound teacher-to-student relationships that connect the Buddhist students living today directly with Buddha Shakyamuni. For over 40 years the Buddha traveled and transmitted Dharma teachings to countless students who in turn became Dharma teachers passing on the lineage to the next generation. Over the ensuing centuries, amazing masters and diligent practitioners have carried wisdom lineages forward by accessing the blessings of all lineage masters, and thus, perpetuating the teachings for the benefit of all beings. The spiritual path of Buddhism is inseparable from the heart-connection between a student and a kind root master. The devotion-mind that is nurtured by a student becomes the path by which that student realizes their own primordial awareness, their true nature.

To many people, the benefits of connecting with a wisdom lineage may seem obscure. Likewise, many people new to Buddhism have never had a qualified spiritual teacher, and do not know how to relate to a living-breathing master or know what to expect from such a relationship. Even long-time practitioners struggle to understand how to best approach relationships with the teachers they encounter.

In his warm and humorous style, Khenpo Choga will expound on the sublime Dharma of scripture and realization, with a focus on the topics of lineage and teacher/student relationships. He typically will interactively answer questions from people in the audience and will joyfully clarify any personal or Dharma conundrum.
